Born in Norsia, Italy, the patron saint is considered by many to be the "father of Europe" and his day is celebrated on July 11th. Saint Benedict was known for performing several miracles with the sign of the cross and for receiving revelations from God. This is how the medal was originated and carved, first, in a monastery in Monte Cassino.
